Step Up 4 Armadale Programme

 OVERVIEW

No therapeutic interventions had been undertaken to assist the young women to manage the long-term scarring effects of their traumatic experience. The young women who are now aged between 18 and 22 years recognize that they are in urgent need of a real opportunity to process the individual experiences which culminated in them entering and leaving the care system. They have also stated that their physiological and emotional stress levels are currently very high from coping with their present circumstances as well as outside influences which they experience as insurmountable. The Step Up 4 Armadale Project has been designed to meet the young women’s current needs.

The project will be implemented by a team of approximately twenty two Behavioral Scientists in the format of a three year intervention. There will be themed workshops, support groups and counseling in three geographical locations, namely Montego Bay, Run Away Bay in St Ann and Kingston. This will culminate in a six-day therapeutic retreat for the girls attended by a number of our professional partners.
