The Plan...

ONGOING SUPPORT - Continuous

Individual one to one sessions is the consistent activity our team offers to the girls throughout the Phases of the project, this contact is vital for the girls especially when they are in crisis.

PHASE 1 - Complete

Phase 1 of the project, saw our team engaging in a twelve month period of research and consultation with many professional child care stakeholders, including that of the Office of the Children Advocate and the Child Development Agency.

PHASE 2 - Complete

In Phase 2 of the project there were multiple levels of activity, a consultation process with the girls, a registration process and a launch of the project in the form of an Entrepreneurship in Action Workshop sponsored by Jamaica National Building Society.  In this Phase we marked the fith anniversary of the fire by hosting a Love, Life & Laughter Retreat for the girls on 22nd of May 2014.

PHASE 3 - Next Step

We are petitioning for a series of regional workshops accompanied by packages of individual therapy sessions. These are to be conducted in the geographical areas which have the highest population of the Armadale survivors i.e. St Ann, St James, Kingston and St.Andrew.

The aim of this series of regional group offerings is to advance the young women’s ability to positively participate in:

  • Health conscious life choices

  • Promotion of the values which maintain personal health care as a life priority

  • Healing of past physical and psychological traumas

  • Employment and creating micro businesses

  • Entrepreneurial Internships with local Artisans

  • Financial Literacy

  • Good Governance and Citizenship

  • Creating communities to combat the isolation of being ex care leavers with the specific shared trauma of being victims of the Armadale Fire.

Please have a look at the Get Involved page to see how you can help us to launch this phase of the project.
